Holding On

Published by Headline. Jacket illustration: Charles Neal

The town has a long history. The photograph to the left shows part of the ramparts that topped the old town wall. Walk out of the picture and down some steps and you come to the arch where the gates once hung - sadly this is modern having been rebuilt following a disastrous fire some years ago. Incidentally, the road this side of the arch is the High Street being within the walls and that below is Fore Street indicating that it was outside the walls.

The children have grown up and must leave The Keep to start out on their own. Fliss must journey to Hong Kong with her husband even though she dreads being so far from home. Mole has embarked on a career in the Royal Navy whilst Susannah is about to start a part time job and fall in love.

Freddy’s greatest fear is that she will not live to see the arrival of the next generation but her worries are unfounded. It seems that her grandchildren need her, and Great Uncle Theo’s love, to guide them through the rocky times ahead. No matter what happens, Freddy is determined that The Keep shall be ready and waiting for their safe return.
